May 3-9, 2009 The goal of Safety and Health Week is: to focus employers, employees, partners and the public on the importance of preventing injury and illness in the workplace, at home and in the community.

NAOSH Week is led by the Canadian Society of Safety Engineering (CSSE) in partnership with the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS) and Human Resources and Social Development Canada (HRSDC), in concert with the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) and partners in Mexico.

ASSE Hawaii began efforts on Friday May 1st with Maui's Mayor Charmaine Tavares who Proclaimed May 6, Safety and Health day on Maui which will be followed up with proclamations all over the state by various leaders.

ASSE Hawaii completed the weeks activities on Friday May 9th with Mayor Mufi Hannemann who Proclaimed May 3-9, Safety and Health week on Oahu.
