Hawaii Chapter
Awards and Honors

ASSE’s chapter of the year awards recognize the best among those that earned Chapter Star status.
This year, ASSE recognized the Hawaii Chapter in the small chapter category:

Hawaii Chapter (small) - among its many activities, the chapter sponsored the 10th Biennial Governor’s Pacific Rim Safety and Health Conference, collaborated with the Pacific Resource Partnership to promote the safety profession to teachers and counselors of Department of Education Construction Academy Schools, and participated in the Hawaii Occupational Safety and Health Division’s Outreach Program to mentor small businesses. The chapter also contributed to the ASSE Orange County Chapter California Wildfires fund.

Congratulations to the 2008-2009 Officers for making ASSE Hawaii - No Ka Oi!

Our Chapter honors Dan Vasilash as our Chapters' SPY (Safety Professional of the Year) award

●    I'll also mention that I received a SPY award this year, which occurred in July at the ASSE PDC. I received my SPY Award from the Risk Management and Insurance Practice Specialty. So another award from within the chapter...Jim Newberry - your Hawaii Chapter webmaster.

●    And - Alan Yokoyama was also recognized for his contribution in Promoting Safety at Work and his volunteerism during May's North American Occupational Safety and Health (NAOSH) Week, May 3-9, 2009, and Occupational Safety and Health Professional (OSHP) Day, May 6, 2009.
